1.9 Teaching Plan

Curriculum

In SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura they used the Merdeka Curriculum or Independent Curriculum. With that, I utilized the Merdeka Curriculum as a foundation for my lesson planning, using its design as a basis to enhance the teaching and learning process, especially to cater the students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura. The curriculum exhibits various characteristics, with the emphasis on its flexibility in curriculum design at the school level. This allowed me the freedom to employ different approaches, catering the specific needs of the students, both in terms of teaching strategies and methods, as well as the implementation of instructional materials. I implemented scaffolding approach, wherein it provides the students the support they need as they progress in their competence and understanding of the topic. With this approach, it slowly helps students to gain independent learning.

Teaching Plan Related to Major

Throughout the observation week, I developed a clear understanding of how to do my lessons and identified the specific requirements for implementation, taking into account the diverse needs of my students. Nevertheless, making a lesson plan is challenging, particularly due to the difference between the detailed approach in the Philippines and the more generalized structure in Indonesia, which includes detailed elements. Following the lesson planning stage, I prepared instructional materials, employing a combination of technology, including PowerPoint presentations, and traditional teaching tools such as paper and pens.

Preparing Lessons and Materials

I create my lesson plan, incorporating scaffolding techniques to facilitate the learning experiences. The instructional materials, thoughtfully prepared for this lesson, feature the strategic use of cartolinas and a vibrant palette of colors to enhance visual appeal and impact. The crafted cartolinas serve as a visual aid, providing a structured framework that supports students' understanding as they go through the lesson. The use of colors not only adds an aesthetic dimension but also contributes to cognitive engagement, helping to highlight key concepts and shows a dynamic and stimulating learning environment. This approach aims to maximize comprehension and retention, ensuring that the educational content is not only informative but also visually captivating for the students.

2.0 Teaching Practice

Procedures of Teaching

I started the class with a warm greeting, including expressions like "Selamat Pagi" and "Apa kabarmu hari ini," and took attendance by asking, "Apakah ada yang absen." Their responses set a positive tone. To increase the energy, I proposed a game— "Guessing Game." Presenting five photos depicting daily actions, the students enthusiastically shared their thoughts. Following this, I reintroduced myself indirectly, prompting them to guess my name. I connected it to "Selamat Siang" and revealed my nickname as Shang, allowing them to address me as Bu Shang. Transitioning to the topic presentation, I utilized mnemonic devices like "WITY" (We, I, They, You) and "ISH" (It, She, He) to explain the concept, proving effective in aiding their grasp of the simple present tense. Concluding the scaffolding discussion, I saw their understanding, and upon their affirmation, transitioned to the activity phase. This was not just a paper-and-pen exercise; rather, it was a dynamic activity designed to actively engage and capture their attention

A Glimps of my Practice Teaching

Time Management and Organizing of Activities

I effectively managed the allotted time 1 hour and 30 minutes, sticking to give timeframe. I delivered the lesson, ensuring its simplicity while still addressing the students' comprehension level, and it was successful meeting the lesson objectives. The organization of activities was executed well, using my voice and engagement strategies to efficiently deliver and manage the activities, capturing and maintaining the students' attention throughout.

Classroom Management

I effectively manage the classroom by establishing clear expectations for behavior and academic standards from the outset. This creates a positive learning environment, showing student engagement through various activities designed to capture their attention. Additionally, I maintain open communication, ensuring students feel that their opinions are valued and accepted.
